3.3.6 Thermocouples are not to be located opposite or on top of beams, girders, pilasters,or otherstructural members if temperatures at such points will be obviously lower than at more representativelocations.
3.3.7 Temperature readings are to be taken at intervals not exceeding 15 min until a reading exceeding212°F(100RC) has been obtained at any one point. Thereafter, the readings may be taken more frequentlyat the discretion of the testing body, but the intervals need not be less than 5 min.
3.3.8 lf the conditions of acceptance place a limitation on the rise of temperature of the unexposedsurface, the temperature end point of the fire endurance period is to be determined by the average of themeasurements taken at individual points, except that if a temperature rise of 30% in excess of thespecified limit occurs at any one of these points, the remainder is to be ignored and the fire enduranceperiod considered as ended.
3.4 Furnace pressure
3.4.1 The funace pressure shall be measured and recorded at least once every minute and shall beincluded in test reports.
3.4.2 The pressure sensors shall be located where they will not be subject to direct impingement ofconvection currents from flames or in the path of the exhaust gases.Tubing connected to the pressuresensors shall be horizontal both in the furnace and as they exit through the furmace wall, such that thepressure is relative to the same positional height from the inside to the outside of the furnace.
3.4.3 The furnace pressure is to be measured by means of a manometer or equivalent transducercapable of reading pressure within an accuracy of 0.01 in of water (2.5 Pa) increments.
3.4.4 The pressure measuring probe tips are to be as illustrated in Figures 3.2 and 3.3 and are to bemanufactured from stainless steel or equivalent material.
